ElWakt ElMakboul (The Acceptable Time)

This book represents a collection of spiritual essays and reflections written by Dr. Naguib Azer Bestavros, a renown preacher in Alexandria Egypt, who devoted his medical career to helping the poor.

The book was published in the late 1950s in two volumes by Dr. Naguib's brother, Adel Azer Bestavros, whom he called "my brother that I love in truth".

The title of the book refers to the passage in Saint Paul's message to the Corinthians:

For The Lord says:

“In an acceptable time I have heard you,

and in the day of salvation I have helped you.”

Behold, now is the accepted time;

behold, now is the day of salvation.

[Corinthians-2 6:2]

The following is a translation of the preface written by Dr. Naguib Bestavros.

Deep into the night, a passer-by stopped and whispered...

Here I am, knocking on your door...
If you hear My voice, and open the door...
I will come in, dine with you, and you with Me...

My soul asked Him...
Who are You stranger ?
He said...

I am a manger's babe, a Nazareth's resident, a carpenter from Galilee!
A King... without an earthly kingdom...
I am He... Jesus is My name...
I gave My bread to the hungry... My water to the thirsty...
And My blood for forgiveness!

I called Him from inside...
Come in... O King of Glory!
For You, under my roof will sleep...
And in my heart will rest your head... My beloved.
